There are parks. And then there are amusement parks. Live at the Foothills of Winona and you don’t have to choose. Head for Confederation Beach Park and enjoy 93 hectares of both natural beauty and fun-filled excitement.
There’s so much to do, you’ll want to visit often throughout the year. Happily, there is no entrance fee, which is great value for money as there are sports fields, picnic pavilions, even a shipwreck playground. Amusement attractions at Adventure Village include Bungee trampoline, go-karts, batting cages, mini golf, wall climbing, outdoor laser tag and more. The Lakeland Centre features a seasonal outdoor swimming pool, splash pad, volleyball and basketball courts, and a banquet hall.
Kids and families come from far and wide to enjoy the park’s signature Wild Waterworks. In fact the attraction saw over 130,000 visitors in 2015, the most ever. Younger children enjoy the Little Squirt Works, a water play area.
If you’re a firm believer that all great parks have beaches, you’re in luck. Confederation Park on the shores of Lake Ontario in Hamilton boasts a beach that spreads out all along a gentle sweep of shoreline. The park’s lakefront setting is ideal for picnics and gatherings (permits are required for large groups).
Carmen’s Lakeview is a charming lakefront venue available for romantic weddings by the waterfront. Dining is fabulous too with restaurants like Hutch’s and Baranga’s on the Beach.
Even more exciting, the park is undergoing a major $40.76 million redevelopment that will bring enhanced facilities to the popular destination over the next 2 decades. The vision for the project has three components; commercial, active recreational, and natural restoration. A picturesque 8 km. Hamilton Recreation Beach Trail has already been built that connects to the Hamilton Waterfront Trail for another 7.5 kms west to Burlington ship canal.
The next focus will be on developing a sports park, including a regulation-sized cricket pitch, 12 pickleball courts, field house and a natural-themed play area. Besides looking at necessary upkeep to Wild Waterworks, the plan also includes upgrades to the group picnic area and an outdoor ice rink and field house.
